Gates: Cancel Navy flyover - Camden may send Navy similar request
Gates County commissioners have formally asked the U.S. Navy to drop its plans for a fighter-jet flyover, saying they don't know what purpose the demonstration would serve.
Landing field aids security
I would like to once again relay to the public why the Navy requires an additional outlying landing field, or OLF, to support field carrier-landing practice and why this new facility is vital to our national security.
N.C. wildfire now at 20,000 acres; evacuations ordered
The North Carolina wildfire that raged in three counties and sent smoke as far north as Chesapeake on Wednesday has grown to 20,500 acres today, according to the agency in charge of the firefighting efforts.
